Attention:Anybody who linked to my blog from my first post on the discussion board , i stuffed the link up(we all make mistakes its what we learn from them that matters). the URL(uniform resourse locator) for my blog is https://jamiesweblog.wordpress.com
This is my first blog ever, now that i have set it up i will tell you, a little about what its for. It is a requirement to create my own blog for the Internet Studies unit I am doing with Curtin University.
The first thing I need to do with it is tell you all what the “top five tips for new bloggers” are, so here goes
1. Do some research, find out what a blog is, what people use them for and why people use them. I went to howstuffworks which is a great site to find out about a whole range of things including blogs. It is fairly concise and to the point too, so you dont get annoyed with having to read a huge amount of text. i also went to utube and watched a few videos about blogs and blogging.
2. Shop around, there are many free hosting sites to choose from, to find out what the best ones are. Use a search engine such as google to find a few sites that do comparisons of the different hosts avaliable (independant reviewers are usually the best option). I went to toptenreviews.com for this. Which gave me great feedback on the various features of blog hosts and a rating of the different ones, as well as information on what the different ones were.
3. Try a few out to get a feel for the difference between the various services out there. You can join for free so it wont cost you anything and it will be good to see which ones are easy to setup, have the best functionality, are easy to use and are most suited to your needs. Most people will have at least a few interests so you could use the different ones you create for any of them in the future once you gain more experience at blogging.
4. Experiment with them a bit see what you can do with your blog and how easy or hard it is to achieve. For instance in this blog i have written a post, created a couple of links and inserted a picture image. And did a little text editing. i aslo looked at how easy things were to find, and if it was easy to edit my posts.
5. choose a platform once you have tried out a few different blog applications, pick one that you like and get to know it better, look further into the functionality and the options available and how to use them. to further expand your knowledge and increase yours skills at blogging. futher down the track you may wish to see if the other sites you tried have the same features and how they are implemented.
this is an arial shot of where i live in Manyana.

Good stuff Jamie. Love you’ve gone for WP. I think it’s a bit cooler than blogger. Like the way you’ve got some links in here. Good blogging practice. Nice
Hi Jamie, Thanks for your comment! I was excited to see someone had made me a comment! hehe
You’re blog looks great!! 🙂
I’m really shocked that wordpress doesn’t automatically make our names in comments link to our blogs, or at least reference our blog link somewhere.
I sent you an email.
However my blog is: http://joelnet11.wordpress.com
I left a note over at your livejournal version of this, but I’ll keep an eye on you here as well! This is a great beginning! 😀
